Oral Suspension
Introduction
Olifast MZ Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Directions for Use
Complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
How it works
Olifast MZ Oral Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
Quick Tips
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if your child experiences an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Olifast MZ Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Discontinue Olifast MZ Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.

While an extra dose of Olifast MZ Oral Suspension will not have any side effects, you must always be vigilant. If you think you have given too much Olifast MZ Oral Suspension to your child, immediately contact a healthcare professional. Overdose can increase the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Olifast MZ Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration?

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Olifast MZ Oral Suspension?
Antibiotics usually don’t interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in a child who has recently received a vaccine. However, children undergoing antibiotic treatment should not be vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
