Oral Suspension
Ofvat MS Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Ofvat MS Oral Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if Ofvat MS Oral Suspension causes an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Ofvat MS Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Ofvat MS Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.
If you think your child has taken an extra dose of Ofvat MS Oral Suspension, seek immediate medical attention. Overdose can cause severe side effects such as seizures, tremors, headache, weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and irregular heartbeat.
If your child is not showing improvement with Ofvat MS Oral Suspension, it may be because the medicine is not effective against the infection-causing bacteria. Consult your child's doctor, who may prescribe an alternative antibiotic.
Ofvat MS Oral Suspension can interact with other medications or substances. Inform your child's doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Ofvat MS Oral Suspension, and check with the doctor before giving any additional medicine.
Generally, antibiotics like Ofvat MS Oral Suspension do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause a bad reaction in children who have just been vaccinated. However, it's recommended to wait until the child has recovered from the illness before getting vaccinated.
Inform your child's doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, such as heart disease, genetic disorders, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy, neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis, as Ofvat MS Oral Suspension may exacerbate these conditions.
It's normal for children taking Ofvat MS Oral Suspension to experience red-brown urine due to the active ingredient metronidazole. This side effect is harmless and will resolve once the treatment is completed.
No, it's not recommended to give Ofvat MS Oral Suspension with cough and cold medicines as they can interfere with each other's effectiveness.
