Introduction
Ofly Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen. This medicine is used to target the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, and urinary tract.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Ofly Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
How it works
Ofly Oral Suspension is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.

Frequently asked questions
What if I give too much of Ofly Oral Suspension by mistake?
An extra dose of Ofly Oral Suspension is unlikely to harm. However, if you think you have given too much to your child, immediately contact a doctor or seek emergency medical attention. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). Seek immediate medical assistance if you observe any of these symptoms.
What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Ofly Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration?
If your child doesn't show improvement despite taking Ofly Oral Suspension as prescribed, it might be due to the medicine being unable to effectively target the bacteria causing the infection. You should immediately consult a doctor who may recommend alternative antibiotics that are more effective in addressing the specific bacterial strain. It's important to note that all medicines aren’t given orally; some require intravenous (IV) administration in hospital settings.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Ofly Oral Suspension?
Ofly Oral Suspension may interact with certain medications or substances. Before starting Ofly Oral Suspension, tell your doctor about any other medications your child is taking to prevent potential interactions. Always consult with your doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Ofly Oral Suspension?
In general, antibiotics don't interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a reaction in children who have recently received one. However, children undergoing antibiotic therapy should not be vaccinated until they recover from their illness before starting treatment with any new medication.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Ofly Oral Suspension to my child?
Inform your doctor if your child has a pre-existing heart condition, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. There is a possibility that Ofly Oral Suspension may exacerbate these conditions and lead to complications. Therefore, open communication with your doctor regarding your child’s medical history is crucial for safe medication usage.
