How it works

Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic. It interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.

Quick Tips

Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.

Frequently asked questions

What if I give too much of Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension by mistake?

Giving an extra dose of Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you think you have given too much to your child, immediately contact a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). Seek immediate medical attention for your child if you notice any of these symptoms.

What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration?

If your child does not show improvement after completing the prescribed course of Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension, it may be due to the medicine not being able to fight the infection-causing bacteria. In this case, visit a doctor who might prescribe another antibiotic that has a higher chance of success. It's important to note that not all medications are given orally; some require IV (intravenous) administration in a hospital setting.

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension?

OFloxy 50mg Oral Suspension may interact with other medications or substances. Before starting Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension, tell your doctor about any other medications your child is taking. Always check with your child's doctor before giving any medicine to them.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension?

Antibiotics do not usually interfere with the components of vaccines or cause a negative reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not be vaccinated until they recover from their illness. After your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.

What should I tell the doctor before giving Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension to my child?

This is because there's a potential for Ofloxy 50mg Oral Suspension to worsen these conditions and result in complications.
