Oflomac MN Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections.
Syrup
Oflomac MN Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Oflomac MN Syrup is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Oflomac MN Syrup may cause an altered taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Oflomac MN Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Oflomac MN Syrup and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.
While an extra dose of Oflomac MN Syrup will not have any side effects, always exercise caution. If you believe your child has taken too much Oflomac MN Syrup, consult a doctor immediately. Overdose can increase the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of these symptoms.
If treatment with Oflomac MN Syrup does not show improvement in your child's condition, it may indicate that the medicine is ineffective against the infection-causing bacteria. Consult a doctor who may prescribe another antibiotic, tailored specifically to combat the particular bacteria causing the infection.
Oflomac MN Syrup may interact with certain other medications or substances. Before starting Oflomac MN Syrup, inform your doctor about all other medications your child is taking. Additionally, it's crucial to consult your doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received a vaccination. However, it's advisable to hold off on vaccinations until the illness is resolved after taking Oflomac MN Syrup.
Inform your child’s doctor if your child has any of these pre-existing conditions: heart disease, genetic disorders affecting blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These conditions may increase the risk of complications from Oflomac MN Syrup.
Yes, this is a common side effect. Oflomac MN Syrup contains metronidazole, which can cause red-brown urine. This is harmless and will subside once the treatment course ends.
No, do not combine Oflomac MN Syrup with cough and cold medications as they may interfere with each other’s effectiveness.
