Oral Suspension
Ofloked Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Ofloked Oral Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if Ofloked Oral Suspension causes an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Ofloked Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Ofloked Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.
While an extra dose of Ofloked Oral Suspension won't have any side effects, you must be alert. If you believe your child has received too much of the medication, immediately contact a doctor. Overdose can increase the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeats. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of these symptoms.
If your child shows no improvement despite taking Ofloked Oral Suspension for the full treatment period, it may be because the medication is ineffective at targeting the infection-causing bacteria. You should visit your child's doctor, who may prescribe another antibiotic with a more targeted action against the specific bacteria responsible for the infection.
Ofloked Oral Suspension can sometimes interact with other medications or substances. Tell your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking before starting Ofloked Oral Suspension. Also, consult your child's doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Antibiotics usually don't interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in a child who has just received a vaccine. However, children taking antibiotics should not receive vaccinations until they have recovered from the illness. After your child feels better, you can administer the vaccine.
Inform the doctor if your child has a history of heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These conditions may be aggravated by Ofloked Oral Suspension and increase the risk of complications.
Yes, it is normal for the urine color to change to a reddish-brown hue due to the presence of metronidazole in Ofloked Oral Suspension. This side effect is harmless and will resolve once the medication course is completed.
No, do not administer Ofloked Oral Suspension with cough and cold medications as it may interfere with their efficacy.
