Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections targeting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen.
Give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. This prevents the infection from spreading and kills the infection-causing bacteria.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. Do not double the dose to catch up. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Giving an extra dose of Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension is unlikely to harm. However, if you think you have given too much to your child, immediately speak with a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). Rush to your child’s doctor on an immediate basis if you notice any of these symptoms.
If your child does not show significant improvement after taking Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension for the prescribed time, consult with their doctor. In such a case, it may be necessary to switch to a different antibiotic that is more specifically targeted at the bacteria causing the infection. Additionally, your child’s doctor may consider intravenous (IV) administration of antibiotics in the hospital setting if an oral route medication is not effective.
It is important to discuss any other medications your child takes with their doctor before starting Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension. Additionally, always consult with a healthcare professional about giving your child any new medication.
Usually, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions. However, children taking antibiotics should not be vaccinated until they are fully recovered from their illness. Once your child is feeling better, you can give them a vaccine.
Inform your child’s doctor if your child has any pre-existing medical conditions, such as heart disease, genetic disorders affecting blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sun allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This information is important because Oflogod 50mg Oral Suspension may worsen these conditions and lead to complications.
