Oral Suspension
Introduction
Oflofix-M Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
How it works
Oflofix-M Oral Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
Quick Tips
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if Oflofix-M Oral Suspension causes an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Oflofix-M Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Oflofix-M Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.

What if I give excess Oflofix-M Oral Suspension by mistake?
While an extra dose of Oflofix-M Oral Suspension will not have any side effects, it is crucial to immediately seek medical advice. If you believe your child has received an excessive dose, contact a doctor or healthcare professional without delay. Overdose may lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. Contact a doctor immediately if any of these symptoms arise.
What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Oflofix-M Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration?

In this situation, consult a doctor who may prescribe alternative antibiotics with a specific action against the infection-causing bacteria.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Oflofix-M Oral Suspension?
Oflofix-M Oral Suspension may interact with certain other medications or substances. Additionally, always consult with a doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Oflofix-M Oral Suspension?
Generally, antibiotics do not significantly interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have received them recently.
