Syrup
Introduction
Oflocin Syrup is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections targeting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen.
Directions for Use
Give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. Do not double the dose to catch up.
How it works
Oflocin Syrup is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. This prevents the multiplication of the bacteria and affects its survival, killing the infection-causing bacteria and preventing the infection from spreading.
Quick Tips
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. Do not double the dose to catch up. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Oflocin Syrup. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Oflocin Syrup and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Oflocin Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
