Oflajet R Oral Suspension is usually given to children to treat acute diarrhea caused due to bacterial infections. It helps relieve the symptoms, severity, and duration of illness by killing the diarrhea-causing microorganism and reducing the loss of water and electrolytes.
Give Oflajet R Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix Oflajet R Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects.
Oflajet R Oral Suspension contains two medicines: Racecadotril and ofloxacin. Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor that has anti-secretory effects. This means that this medicine reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine. As a result, the amount of fluid lost from the body in diarrhea reduces. On the other hand, Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and causing infection.
Loose, watery diarrhea can lead to loss of fluids and essential salts from your child's body. Make sure to replenish this in the form of ORS (Oral rehydration solution) to combat dehydration. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Oflajet R Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Give Oflajet R Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix Oflajet R Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects. Do not give Oflajet R Oral Suspension if your child has persistent uncontrolled vomiting as this medicine will not be absorbed.
While an extra dose of Oflajet R Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause harm, it's important to contact a healthcare professional immediately. Overdose can result in unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregular heartbeat). If you believe your child may have taken too much medication, seek immediate medical attention.
Giving Oflajet R Oral Suspension to children with dairy product or milk intolerance is not advised. This medication contains lactose.
It's important to inform your child's doctor about all other medications they are currently taking before starting Oflajet R Oral Suspension. Always consult a healthcare professional for guidance on administering any medication.
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines and should not cause a negative reaction. However, children taking antibiotics should wait until recovering from their illness before receiving vaccinations. Once your child feels better, they can receive the vaccine.
