Key Information

Short Description

Oflajet R Oral Suspension is a medicine used to treat acute diarrhea caused by bacterial infections in children.

Dosage Form

Oral Suspension

Introduction

Oflajet R Oral Suspension is usually given to children to treat acute diarrhea caused due to bacterial infections. It helps relieve the symptoms, severity, and duration of illness by killing the diarrhea-causing microorganism and reducing the loss of water and electrolytes.

Directions for Use

Give Oflajet R Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix Oflajet R Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects.

How it works

Oflajet R Oral Suspension contains two medicines: Racecadotril and ofloxacin. Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor that has anti-secretory effects. This means that this medicine reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine. As a result, the amount of fluid lost from the body in diarrhea reduces. On the other hand, Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and causing infection.

Quick Tips

Loose, watery diarrhea can lead to loss of fluids and essential salts from your child's body. Make sure to replenish this in the form of ORS (Oral rehydration solution) to combat dehydration. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Oflajet R Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Give Oflajet R Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix Oflajet R Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects. Do not give Oflajet R Oral Suspension if your child has persistent uncontrolled vomiting as this medicine will not be absorbed.
