Ofkhush Suspension is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children, including those affecting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract.
Suspension
Ofkhush Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen. The medicine is available in suspension form and is used to target infections in various parts of the body.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Ofkhush Suspension is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Ofkhush Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Ofkhush Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Ofkhush Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Giving an extra dose of Ofkhush Suspension is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you believe your child has taken more than the recommended dose, contact a doctor immediately. Overdosing might lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregular heartbeat). Seek immediate medical attention for your child if these symptoms appear.
If the illness doesn't improve despite taking Ofkhush Suspension as directed, it might indicate that the medicine is ineffective against the causing bacteria. Consult your child’s doctor who may prescribe a different antibiotic with specific action. Some medications are administered through an IV (intravenous) route in hospital settings instead of orally.
It is advisable to inform your child’s doctor about any other medications your child is taking before administering Ofkhush Suspension. Additionally, always consult with your child’s doctor before administering any medicine to your child.
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with vaccines or cause a negative reaction in children who have recently received one. However, it’s best to avoid giving your child any vaccinations until they recover from their illness. Once the child feels better, the vaccination can be administered.
Inform your child’s doctor about potential pre-existing medical conditions such as heart disease, genetic disorders affecting blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These conditions may be aggravated by Ofkhush Suspension and should be discussed with the doctor.
