Oral Suspension
Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension causes an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.
While an extra dose of Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension will not have any side effects, you must always be vigilant. If you think you have given too much Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension to your child, immediately contact a doctor. Overdose increases the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. Seek immediate medical attention if any of these symptoms are observed.
Ineffective treatment with Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension could mean that the medicine is not able to act against the infection-causing bacteria. In such a case, visit your child’s doctor who may prescribe another antibiotic with more specific action towards the infection-causing bacteria.
Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension can sometimes interact with other medications or substances. Before starting Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension, tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking. Also, always check with your child’s doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in children who have just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not be vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Inform the doctor if your child is suffering from heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there may be a possibility that Ofizol MZ Oral Suspension might worsen these conditions and lead to complications.
