Oral Suspension
Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen. This medicine is used to target infections in various parts of the body, including the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Only give Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Giving an extra dose of Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause harm. However, seek immediate medical attention (call a doctor) if you believe your child may have taken too much medicine. Overdose can lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregular heartbeat). Seek urgent medical help from a healthcare professional immediately if you observe any of these symptoms.
If your child doesn't show improvement despite following the Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension treatment, there may be a reason why the medicine is ineffective against the bacteria causing the infection. In such cases, consult your child's doctor. They might prescribe a different antibiotic that would be more effective in fighting the infection. It's important to remember that not all medications are administered orally. Some may require intravenous administration (IV) for treatment.
Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension can sometimes interact with other medications or substances. It's crucial to inform your child's doctor about all medications your child is taking before starting ofia 50mg Oral Suspension. Consulting your child's doctor is always recommended for any additional medication.
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause negative reactions in children who have recently received a vaccine. However, it's recommended to hold off on vaccinations until your child has recovered from the illness, as this might minimize potential complications.
Inform the doctor if your child is experiencing any of these conditions: heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there is a possibility that Ofia 50mg Oral Suspension may worsen these conditions and lead to complications.
