Odimont-LC Syrup is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy, asthma, and skin allergies in children.
Dosage Form
Syrup
Introduction
Odimont-LC Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Directions for Use
Odimont-LC Syrup should be used as directed by your child's doctor. Never combine it with other cold and flu medicines as that may have side effects.
How it works
Odimont-LC Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
Quick Tips
Never combine Odimont-LC Syrup with other cold and flu medicines as that may have side effects. Odimont-LC Syrup helps prevent asthma attacks. Never use it to stop an attack that has already started as it will not help. If you are giving Odimont-LC Syrup to your child for asthma or allergy, you need not give another dose to prevent exercise-induced breathing problems. In case of any confusion, consult your child's doctor as soon as possible. Make sure that you always have enough medicine. Practice self-care tips: Abstain your child from coming in contact with allergens, encourage your child to wear a face mask and avoid dusty places, and give plenty of fluids as it helps in thinning and loosening the mucus in the lungs.

Frequently asked questions
My child has a persistent cough along with allergic symptoms. Can I give cough and allergy medicine together?
No. Do not mix cough and allergy medicines because they usually both contain similar ingredients. Mixing these medications can result in double dosing of the active components, leading to potential serious side effects.
Can I decrease the dose of Odimont-LC Syrup by myself if my child starts to feel better?
No, adhere to the prescribed dosage as determined by your child's healthcare provider. Do not change the dosage on your own as it can impact their health negatively. Increasing the dosage may cause unwanted effects like sedation and depression, while decreasing the dose or stopping abruptly might lead to rebound reversal of all symptoms.
How should Odimont-LC Syrup be stored?
Odimont-LC Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Also, keep all medications out of the reach and sight of children to avoid accidental ingestion.
Can Odimont-LC Syrup make my child sleepy?
Odimont-LC Syrup can cause mild drowsiness, which may make your child feel sleepy. However, this medicine should never be given to induce sleep. Overreliance on the medication might mask underlying sleep disorders such as insomnia.
My child is an athlete and has a sports event in the next two days. Can I start the course of Odimont-LC Syrup?
No, do not start Odimont-LC Syrup without first consulting your child's healthcare provider. Additionally, it might impair their performance due to potential side effects like mild sedation, dizziness, and sleepiness. Therefore, seeking guidance from a healthcare professional is crucial.
Can I stop the medicine by myself?
No, all symptoms may reappear on sudden withdrawal of Odimont-LC Syrup usually if taken for an extended period. It is advised to gradually discontinue this medication under the guidance of your child's healthcare provider.
My child is suffering from a mood disorder. Is it safe to give Odimont-LC Syrup to my child?
Some studies indicate that Odimont-LC Syrup may trigger mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and trouble controlling body movements. Hence, consult your child's healthcare provider before administering any medication.
Can I use Odimont-LC Syrup for treating acute asthma attacks in my child?
Odimont-LC Syrup is only meant to prevent asthma attacks and should not be used to stop an attack that has already begun. For existing attacks, use your child's reliever medication for prompt assistance.
