NV-Spas Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Dicyclomine and Mefenamic Acid. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic which works by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms) thereby relieving cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Mefenamic Acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause abdominal pain and inflammation (swelling). Together they relieve menstrual cramps and stomach cramps.
You have been prescribed NV-Spas Tablet to relieve menstrual pain (cramps) and abdominal pain. NV-Spas Tablet should preferably be taken with food. If you get diarrhea while taking this medicine, stop taking it and consult your doctor. Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help. It may cause dizziness, drowsiness or visual disturbances. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking NV-Spas Tablet as it can cause excessive drowsiness and increase your risk of stomach problems.
It is best to take NV-Spas Tablet with food or immediately after a meal as this medication may cause stomach upset.
NV-Spas Tablet does not affect menstrual bleeding or the amount or duration of it. It does not impact the menstrual cycle and helps relieve pain from cramps during menstruation.
NV-Spas Tablet is not prescribed for regular use. The medication should only be taken as directed by your doctor or when experiencing menstrual pain, for the shortest possible duration.
You should avoid driving after taking NV-Spas Tablet due to a potential risk of dizziness or drowsiness. Alcohol consumption can also amplify these side effects. It is recommended to refrain from driving or any task requiring focus until you understand how the medication affects you.
