How it works
NV CL Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as NV CL Dry Syrup?
NV CL Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It's crucial to inform your child's healthcare provider about all other medications they are taking before starting NV CL Dry Syrup. Consult their doctor for guidance on administering any medicine to your child, ensuring safe and appropriate dosage.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with NV CL Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is essential to hold off on vaccinations until your child recovers from any illness they may be experiencing. Once they are fully recovered, their doctor can advise if and when a vaccine should be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking NV CL Dry Syrup long-term?
Over prolonged therapy, your child's doctor may consider monitoring kidney and liver function periodically to assess their condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of NV CL Dry Syrup to my child?
No, exceeding the prescribed dosage of this medication can increase the potential for side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving NV CL Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue this medication until the full course of treatment is completed, even if your child feels better. The symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared, and continued treatment could provide further benefit.
Can the use of NV CL Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, NV CL Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea. It's important to note that this medication acts as an antibiotic, which kills harmful bacteria. Additionally, it may alter the balance of helpful bacteria in your child's gut, leading to diarrhea. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to drink plenty of fluids. If you notice signs of dehydration (such as decreased urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine), seek immediate guidance from your doctor.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Viruses often cause symptoms, but not always resulting in a secondary bacterial infection. Antibiotics should only be used when prescribed by a healthcare professional and after consulting with a doctor. If your child is experiencing symptoms of a cold, they may experience some discomfort, but it's usually not necessary to use antibiotics. Be aware that in many cases, the virus will naturally clear up on its own.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is this a sign of a bacterial infection?
While it's normal for mucus to thicken and change color (from clear to yellow or green) during a common cold, it doesn't necessarily indicate a bacterial infection. However, if you are concerned or notice any other changes in your child's health, it's important to seek advice from their doctor.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
If your child experiences severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea and vomiting), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, or yellowing of the eyes and skin) – contact a doctor immediately.
