Frequently asked questions
What is Nurvin 1500mcg Injection?
Nurvin 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is essential for the body to create red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system, as it plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You may obtain vitamin B12 from sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Those following vegetarian or vegan diets may find it challenging to naturally obtain adequate vitamin B12 because it is not found naturally in fruits, vegetables, and grains. This can lead to a deficiency of Vitamin B12.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may lead to symptoms such as tiredness and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than usual). It may also cause nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other possible symptoms include issues with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Is Nurvin 1500mcg Injection safe?
Generally considered safe for use, Nurvin 1500mcg Injection has a favorable safety profile. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash may occur in some individuals. If a rash develops, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Nurvin 1500mcg Injection be given?
Nurvin 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Nurvin 1500mcg Injection), given three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Nurvin 1500mcg Injection) is administered once every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Nurvin 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site each time. If there is intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
