Frequently asked questions
What is Nuropace 1500mcg Injection?
Nuropace 1500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body needs to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It's also important for releasing energy from food, utilizing vitamin B11 (folic acid), and other bodily functions.
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is available in various foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians or vegans may not naturally obtain adequate amounts of Vitamin B12 because it's not found in common plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, they might experience vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It may also lead to nerve problems such as numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms might include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, memory impairments, and sore mouth or tongue.
Is Nuropace 1500mcg Injection safe?
Nuropace 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or skin rash. If you notice a rash, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Nuropace 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Nuropace 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Nuropace 1500mcg Injection), and it's usually given three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule of the medication is administered every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Nuropace 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If there's intense pain during injection, remove the needle and re-inject it at a different spot.
