Frequently asked questions
What is Nuromax 500mcg Injection?
Nuromax 500mcg Injection contains Vitamin B12, an essential nutrient necessary for the body to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using Vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found in meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Individuals following vegetarian or vegan diets may find it challenging to obtain adequate Vitamin B12 as it is not naturally present in fruits, vegetables, or grains. Consequently, they may experience a vitamin B12 deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It may also result in nerve problems, including numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other possible symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, memory problems, mouth sores, and tongue soreness.
Is Nuromax 500mcg Injection safe?
Nuromax 500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash may occur. If a rash appears, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Nuromax 500mcg Injection be given?
Nuromax 500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The typical dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Nuromax 500mcg Injection), given three times weekly. After two months, an additional dose is required every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Nuromax 500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site each time. If you experience intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
