Frequently asked questions
What is Nurolam Injection?
Nurolam Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that helps the body make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and utilizing vitamin B11 (folate).
Why might I have trouble getting enough Vitamin B12 from my diet?
You can get vitamin B12 from foods such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. People who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may not get enough vitamin B12 because it is not naturally found in plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, deficiency in Vitamin B12 is more common in vegetarians or vegans.
What happens if I have a vitamin B12 deficiency?
A lack of vitamin B12 can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, and weight loss. It can also cause megaloblastic anemia (an increase in the size of red blood cells). Vitamin B12 deficiency may also affect the nervous system, leading to numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include problems with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, impaired memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Is Nurolam Injection safe?
Nurolam Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, in rare cases, side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash may occur. If a rash develops, discontinue use of this medication immediately.
How should Nurolam Injection be administered?
Nurolam Injection can be injected intravenously or intramuscularly. The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Nurolam Injection), given three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Nurolam Injection?
Do not inject the same area repeatedly. If there is intense pain during injection, or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
