Frequently asked questions
What is Norvap 1500mcg Injection?
Norvap 1500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body requires to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also helps release energy from food and utilizes vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You obtain vitamin B12 from sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, vegetarians or vegans may not receive enough vitamin B12 because it is not naturally found in fruits, vegetables, or grains. Therefore, deficiency of vitamin B12 is commonly observed in these groups.
What happens if I have a vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to symptoms like fatigue and weakness, constipation, decreased appetite, weight loss, megaloblastic anemia (an abnormally large number of red blood cells), and nerve problems such as numbness or tingling in the hands or feet. Other signs of vitamin B12 deficiency include balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, memory impairment, sore mouth, and tongue.
Is Norvap 1500mcg Injection safe?
Norvap 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects may occur such as nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and rash. If you experience a rash during treatment, discontinue use immediately.
How should Norvap 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Norvap 1500mcg Injection can be injected intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Norvap 1500mcg Injection), and it should be administered three times weekly. After two months, a single ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Norvap 1500mcg Injection) should be taken every one to three months as part of long-term maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Norvap 1500mcg Injection?
Do not administer Norvap 1500mcg Injection at the same site each time. If there is intense pain during injection, or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different site.
