How it works
During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgeries, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Giving Norset 2mg Syrup just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.

Frequently asked questions
What is Norset 2mg Syrup used for?
Norset 2mg Syrup is generally administered before major surgeries or chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. In such cases, a healthcare professional may prescribe it to prevent vomiting after the procedure. It can also be beneficial in treating nausea and vomiting associated with stomach ailments. Your child's doctor will determine the proper dosage and duration of use based on individual needs.
What if my child takes too much Norset 2mg Syrup?
While accidental overdose is unlikely to cause harm, it's important to contact your child’s healthcare provider immediately. Excessive intake of Norset 2mg Syrup can lead to serious side effects like excessive sleepiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures. These symptoms are collectively referred to as serotonin syndrome. If any of these signs appear, seek medical attention promptly.
How should Norset 2mg Syrup be stored?
Norset 2mg Syrup should be kept at room temperature in a dry, cool location, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Keep all medicines out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
What all medicines should my child avoid while taking Norset 2mg Syrup?
It's generally advised not to administer Norset 2mg Syrup alongside antidepressant medications, apomorphine, anti-migraine drugs, painkillers, heart medications, or antibiotics like linezolid. However, consult your child’s healthcare provider for a more detailed and individualized assessment of their specific medication usage.
In what conditions do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
Call your child's doctor immediately if they experience symptoms suggestive of serotonin syndrome, such as irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomiting, difficulty passing gas, pale skin and eyes, dark-colored urine, restlessness, and insomnia.
My child is having a migraine and is on medication. Can I give Norset 2mg Syrup along with it?
It's advisable to avoid giving Norset 2mg Syrup concurrently with any medications meant to treat depression or migraines, as such combined use can result in serotonin syndrome. Always consult your child’s doctor before administering any medication.
