Key Information

Short Description

Normed Tablet is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and diarrhea or constipation).

Dosage Form

Tablet

Introduction

Normed Tablet is taken without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.

Directions for Use

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Normed Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

How it works

Normed Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Clidinium, Chlordiazepoxide and Dicyclomine. Clidinium and Dicyclomine are antispasmodics which work by relaxing the muscles in your stomach and gut (intestine). They stop sudden muscle contractions (spasms). This relieves cramps, pain, bloating and discomfort. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Quick Tips

If you are due to have an operation or any dental treatment, please tell the doctor carrying out the treatment that you are taking Normed Tablet. This is because Normed Tablet increases the effects of some anesthetics. If you have an enlarged prostate gland, glaucoma or trouble passing urine, inform your doctor. If you are 65 or older, use Normed Tablet with care. You could have more side effects. If you develop any new symptoms or if your symptoms get worse, make an appointment to see your doctor for further advice. If you are taking Normed Tablet, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
