Normadate 100mg Tablet is a medicine used for treating high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart-related chest pain (angina). It is also effective for treating high blood pressure in pregnancy. It lowers blood pressure and thus helps in preventing future stroke and heart attack.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Normadate 100mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Normadate 100mg Tablet is an alpha and beta blocker. It works by slowing down the heart rate and relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.
It should be taken with food. Check your blood pressure 1 week after starting Normadate 100mg Tablet and inform your doctor if it has not improved. Normadate 100mg Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension). Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. It is best to avoid drinking alcohol while taking Normadate 100mg Tablet as it may make the side effects worse. Do not stop taking Normadate 100mg Tablet suddenly as it can cause your blood pressure to rise suddenly thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.
Normadate 100mg Tablet is generally considered a safe medicine if taken as directed by the doctor. The side effects that result from use of Normadate 100mg Tablet occur during the first few weeks of treatment and disappear with time.
It is essential to treat high blood pressure in pregnancy properly. Studies have shown that poorly controlled high blood pressure in pregnancy can lead to an increased risk of certain birth defects, stillbirth, reduced growth of the baby within the womb, and premature birth. Yes, itchy skin, a rash or tingly scalp are common side effects of Normadate 100mg Tablet. Speak to your doctor if the itchiness or rash gets worse or lasts for more than a week.
Diabetic patients while using Normadate 100mg Tablet should regularly check the blood sugar levels. Normadate 100mg Tablet may make it difficult to recognize the warning signs of low blood sugar such as shaking and a racing heartbeat. Consult your doctor if the blood sugar levels are reduced while taking Normadate 100mg Tablet.

Your doctor may advise you to stop taking Normadate 100mg Tablet for 24 hours before surgery. This is because Normadate 100mg Tablet can lower your blood pressure too much when its use is combined with some anesthetics. So, tell your doctor that you're taking Normadate 100mg Tablet if you're going to be put to sleep using a general anesthetic or are scheduled to have any kind of major operation.
Taking more than the recommended dose of Normadate 100mg Tablet can lead to a drop in blood pressure and slowing of the heart rate, difficulty breathing, or a drop in blood sugar, which can cause sweating or confusion.
