Nitroglycerin (50mg)
Nitroplus 50mg Injection is used to treat and prevent heart-related chest pain (angina) and hypertension (high blood pressure) during surgery.
Injection
Nitroplus 50mg Injection is given as an injection under the supervision of a doctor with careful blood pressure monitoring. This is given as a continuous infusion into a vein and should not be stopped abruptly. It should not be mixed with any other medication of any kind. The most common side effect of Nitroplus 50mg Injection is a headache which may be severe. This can sometimes be helped by drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding alcohol. You may also experience lightheadedness which could increase your risk of having a fall. There are other rarer side effects some of them serious. Ask your doctor and read the leaflet which comes with the medicine to make sure you are keeping safe.
Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self-administer.
Headache, lightheadedness
Consuming alcohol while taking Nitroplus 50mg Injection may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Nitroplus 50mg Injection is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Nitroplus 50mg Injection is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Sildenafil Tadalafil Udenafil Vardenafil
Nitroplus 50mg Injection is a nitrate. It works by improving blood supply to the heart and relaxing the blood vessels, which decreases the oxygen demand of the heart and reduces its workload, thereby preventing/treating attacks of angina (chest pain). Relaxation of blood vessels lowers blood pressure.
It is given via a drip into a vein under the supervision of a doctor. It may cause headaches which usually go away after a few days of continued treatment. Inform your doctor if it persists. Do not drive or do anything that requires concentration until you know how it affects you. Do not consume alcohol while taking Nitroplus 50mg Injection as it may cause increased dizziness. Stop taking medications (prescribed for erectile dysfunction) like sildenafil or tadalafil while on treatment with Nitroplus 50mg Injection as it may cause low blood pressure.
Yes, continued use of Nitroplus 50mg Injection may lead to tolerance. This means that the medication's effectiveness could diminish over time for you. Doctors usually prescribe the lowest effective dose to manage acute angina attacks. It is typically administered in morning and afternoon doses to allow a nitrate-free interval between administrations. Always adhere strictly to your doctor's dosing schedule to prevent tolerance and maintain the efficacy of Nitroplus 50mg Injection.
Excessive use of Nitroplus 50mg Injection can lead to side effects such as low blood pressure, excessive sweating, nausea, vomiting, headache, weak and fast pulse. It may also cause dizziness when standing, potential fainting, and in severe cases, require emergency medical care.
Nitroplus 50mg Injection is prescribed to prevent angina (chest pain) caused by coronary artery disease. In this condition, the arteries that supply blood to the heart narrow, causing increased effort for the heart to oxygenate itself. Nitroplus 50mg Injection relaxes these narrowed arteries, allowing the heart to function more efficiently and thus alleviate the chest pain. The medication's effectiveness also lies in its ability to increase the oxygen supply to the heart.
