It works in anal fissure by blocking the action of calcium on blood vessels of anus.

Frequently asked questions
Does Nifecaine Cream cure anal fissures?
Nifecaine Cream is not a cure for anal fissures. It helps reduce inflammation of the mucous membrane and skin, thereby reducing irritation, pain, and itching. This provides temporary symptomatic relief.
Why is my fissure not healing?
Anal fissures usually heal within a few weeks. However, if they remain unhealed for longer than that, it could be due to poor blood supply to the area, which slows down the healing process. It's important to consult your doctor immediately if you have been experiencing this issue for more than a few weeks.
What should I eat and avoid in fissure?
A diet high in fiber, such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, can be beneficial. Ensure you are drinking plenty of water to keep your stools soft and easy to pass. You may also consider using laxatives or fiber supplements if experiencing constipation. Your doctor will provide guidance on avoiding constipation and promoting fissure healing.
Can spicy food cause fissures?
Spicy food does not directly cause fissures. However, it can irritate the area and worsen symptoms. Therefore, it's advisable to avoid spicy foods if you have fissures.
How do you use Nifecaine Cream cream?
Always follow your doctor’s instructions before using Nifecaine Cream. Apply a small amount of the ointment directly to the affected rectal area as directed. If it needs to be applied internally, attach the applicator to the tube. Insert the applicator gently and fully into the rectum. Gently squeeze the tube to deliver the medication while withdrawing it.
How long does it take for fissures to heal?
Anal fissures typically heal within a few weeks, but persistent fissures lasting longer than 4 to 6 weeks may indicate chronic fissures. Consult your doctor if you experience this for longer than 4 weeks.
