Newtel-AM Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Telmisartan and Amlodipine. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). They work by relaxing the blood vessels and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Together they lower blood pressure effectively.
Newtel-AM Tablet is a combination of two medicines that provides better blood pressure control than either medicine alone. Newtel-AM Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Newtel-AM Tablet may cause ankle or foot swelling. Raise your legs while you are sitting down and talk to your doctor if it does not go away. Do not take Newtel-AM Tablet if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
You should avoid potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless advised by your doctor. Also, avoid alcohol consumption as it can further lower your blood pressure and may cause side effects. Additionally, stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids during exercise and in hot weather. The medicine may make you feel dizzy, so avoid driving, using machinery, or doing anything that requires concentration until you know how it affects you. If you feel dizzy, lie down to prevent fainting. Then sit for a few moments before standing to prevent feeling dizzy again.
Taking too much Newtel-AM Tablet may lead to symptoms like low blood pressure, dizziness, lightheadedness, weakness, vomiting, and rapid heartbeat. In some cases, slow heartbeat, reduced kidney function (including possible kidney failure - decreased urine output) has also been reported. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your doctor immediately and seek medical attention.
While it's good that your blood pressure is controlled with Newtel-AM Tablet, you should continue taking the medication. If you stop taking Newtel-AM Tablet, your blood pressure may rise back up. Blood pressure medications only help to manage your condition and do not cure it. You will likely need to take them for life. Remember, by keeping your blood pressure controlled, you're reducing your risk of having a heart attack or stroke.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed. If you often forget doses, consider setting an alarm or consulting with your doctor for alternative ways to help you remember.
You should not stop taking Newtel-AM Tablet without first talking to your doctor. If you stop abruptly, your blood pressure may rise and you could be at higher risk of a heart attack or stroke. If you experience any side effects like dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, etc., contact your doctor.
Newtel-AM Tablet is generally considered safe when taken for an extended period. However, always follow your doctor's advice or instructions regarding dosage and duration of treatment.
