Frequently asked questions
What is Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection?
Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body uses to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and utilizing vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You may obtain vitamin B12 through foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, individuals who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may not naturally acquire vitamin B12 as it is not present in fruits, vegetables, and grains. This can lead to deficiencies of vitamin B12 in those following a vegetarian or vegan diet.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may cause tiredness, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than normal). It can also result in nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and sores in the mouth or tongue.
Is Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection safe?
Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or a rash. Discontinue the medication if a rash develops.
How should Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection be given?
Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is one ampoule (0.5 mg of Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection) and it is administered three times per week. After two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of long-term maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Neurogrey 1500mcg Injection?
Do not inject at the same site on each occasion. If you experience intense pain while injecting or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and try injecting at a different location.
