Frequently asked questions
What is Neurocheck-Forte Injection?
Neurocheck-Forte Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient necessary for red blood cell production and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also aids in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 from my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found naturally in meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may not obtain sufficient vitamin B12 as it isn't naturally present in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, deficiencies are more common in such individuals.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may lead to tiredness, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It can also affect nerves, causing numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, memory issues, mouth or tongue soreness, and fatigue.
Is Neurocheck-Forte Injection safe?
Neurocheck-Forte Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash may occur. If a rash appears, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Neurocheck-Forte Injection be administered?
Neurocheck-Forte Injection can be given directly into a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Neurocheck-Forte Injection) and is given three times per week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Neurocheck-Forte Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions should I take when administering Neurocheck-Forte Injection?
When administering the injection, do not inject at the same site repeatedly. If intense pain occurs or blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
