Frequently asked questions
What is Neurazen 1500mcg Injection?
Neurazen 1500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required by the body to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folate).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You can obtain vitamin B12 from sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, individuals who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may experience difficulty obtaining adequate vitamin B12 as it is not naturally found in fruits, vegetables, or grains. Therefore, deficiency in vitamin B12 is more commonly observed in vegetarians or vegans.
What happens if I have a vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It may also cause nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms might include problems with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and mouth or tongue soreness.
Is Neurazen 1500mcg Injection safe?
Neurazen 1500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash have been observed. If a rash occurs, discontinue the use of this medication immediately.
How should Neurazen 1500mcg Injection be given?
Neurazen 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is one ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Neurazen 1500mcg Injection), and it is administered three times a week. After two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of Neurazen 1500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Neurazen 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If you experience intense pain during injection, or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
