Neostep 1mg/100mg Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of infectious diarrhea. It manages the symptoms of diarrhea such as stomach pain, cramps, and loose stools. It kills the diarrhea-causing microorganisms.
Directions for Use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Neostep 1mg/100mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How it works
Neostep 1mg/100mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Loperamide and Furazolidone which treat infectious diarrhoea. Loperamide is an opioid agonist which works by decreasing contraction of the intestines making the stools more solid and less frequent. Furazolidone is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria and other diarrhoea-causing microorganisms by damaging their DNA.

You have been prescribed Neostep 1mg/100mg Tablet for the treatment of diarrhea caused by bacteria or parasites. Drink plenty of fluids especially ORS (oral rehydration solution) to help keep you hydrated. Do not use Neostep 1mg/100mg Tablet if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated. Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea). It is best to avoid drinking alcohol while taking and till 4 days after taking this medication.
