Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet belongs to a group of medicine called anti-thyroid agents. It is used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism. It reduces the amount of thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid gland.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet is used for the treatment of hyperthyroidism. You may have to stop taking it for a while if you are also taking radio-iodine as a treatment for your overactive thyroid. It may affect the level of blood cells in your blood. Inform your doctor if you experience symptoms such as unexplained bruising or bleeding, sore throat, mouth ulcers, fever, or general illness. Stop taking Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet and Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms of liver damage. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
You should not stop taking Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet even if you start feeling better. You may have to take it for several months depending on your investigations. The duration of the treatment will continue till the thyroid hormone levels return to normal. This duration may vary from six months to 18 months. Your doctor will decide when the treatment should be stopped.
You may start feeling better within 1-3 weeks of starting Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet. However, it usually takes 4-8 weeks to see the full benefits of the treatment.
Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet may cause hair loss but not in everyone. It has been seen that on discontinuing Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet or replacing Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet with another medicine, there is improvement, and hair loss reverses.

If a blood test shows her white blood cell count to be normal, then she can continue Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet. If not, she should stop the treatment after consulting the doctor.
The effectiveness and side effects of Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet in children are more or less the same as in adults. Neo-Mercazole 10 Tablet should not be used in children less than 2 years of age.
