Dry Syrup
Naxim O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Naxim O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Naxim O Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Naxim O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
Giving an extra dose of Naxim O Dry Syrup is unlikely to cause harm. However, it's crucial to monitor your child closely as potential side effects like vomiting, diarrhea, or allergic reactions may occur. If you believe your child has overdosed on the medicine, contact a doctor immediately.
Serious side effects associated with this medication include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergic reactions, severe diarrhea, and dangerous gastrointestinal infections. It's essential to consult your child's doctor for immediate assistance in case of these complications.
It is vital to discuss any other medications or substances your child is taking with their doctor before starting Naxim O Dry Syrup. Always seek medical advice for potential interactions.
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received them. However, it's best to wait for your child to recover fully from their illness before administering any additional medicine or vaccine.
Many children experience digestive upset when taking antibiotics like Naxim O Dry Syrup. Antibiotics can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in their gut, increasing the risk of further infections. If your child develops diarrhea while on this medication, don't stop the treatment course without consulting your doctor. They may adjust the dosage or provide alternative treatments.
Yes, using Naxim O Dry Syrup for an extended period or at incorrect doses can contribute to bacterial resistance. Irregular dosing, unnecessary repeat use, and misuse of the medication are contributing factors to bacterial resistance that may lead to reinfection.
Always inform your doctor if your child suffers from conditions such as heart disease, vascular disorders, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sun sensitivity), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These pre-existing conditions might be aggravated by Naxim O Dry Syrup and increase the risk of complications.
