Naltida Injection contains Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that helps your body produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It's also important for converting food into energy and utilizing folate (vitamin B9).
You can obtain Vitamin B12 from sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, people who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may lack Vitamin B12 because it is not naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, vitamin B12 deficiency is often observed in individuals following these diets.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an increase in the size of red blood cells). It may also result in nerve problems such as numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Naltida Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, in rare cases, side effects may occur like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash. If a rash occurs, discontinue the medication immediately.
Naltida Injection can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly. The usual dose is 0.5 mg per injection, given three times per week. After two months of treatment, the dose may be reduced to 0.5mg every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
Avoid repeatedly injecting at the same site. If you experience intense pain during injection or blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and reinsertion at a different location.
