Frequently asked questions
What is Mytorute 2500 Injection?
Mytorute 2500 Injection contains vitamin B12, an essential nutrient required for the body to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in energy production and utilizing Vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 from my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found in animal-based foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians or vegans may lack Vitamin B12 because it's not naturally present in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, they are at risk of deficiency.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (large red blood cells). It may also cause nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, memory problems, and soreness in the mouth or tongue.
Is Mytorute 2500 Injection safe?
Mytorute 2500 Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. If a rash occurs, discontinue the use of the medication immediately.
How should Mytorute 2500 Injection be given?
Mytorute 2500 Injection can be administered intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (containing 0.5 mg of Mytorute 2500 Injection), and it's typically given three times weekly. After two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of Mytorute 2500 Injection) is administered every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Mytorute 2500 Injection?
Alternate injection sites to avoid repeated pain at the same location. If intense pain occurs during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it in a different site.
