Mycophenolate mofetil (500mg)
Mycotero 500mg Tablet is an immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection after a transplant, such as kidney, heart, or liver.
Tablet
Mycotero 500mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called immunosuppressants. It is used with other medicines to prevent your body from rejecting an organ (such as a kidney, heart, or liver) after a transplant. It works by suppressing your body's immune system so that it does not attack the new organ.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Mycotero 500mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Mycotero 500mg Tablet is an immunosuppressant. It reduces the action of the body's own defense system (the immune system) and prevents rejection of the transplanted organ.
Your doctor has prescribed Mycotero 500mg Tablet to stop your body from rejecting a transplanted organ (e.g. kidney, heart or liver). It may take 6 to 12 weeks for Mycotero 500mg Tablet to start working. Keep taking it as prescribed. It may cause birth defects so birth control is required in females with reproductive potential. It makes you more susceptible to getting infections. Avoid contact with people who have an infection. Protect yourself from direct sunlight by wearing protective clothing and applying a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF).
Mycotero 500mg Tablet may increase your risk of certain cancers like skin cancer and lymphoma (cancer of the lymph system). When outdoors, avoid unnecessary or prolonged sun exposure. Wear protective clothing and apply sunscreen. If you experience a new skin sore or bump, a change in the size or color of a mole, a brown or black skin lesion with uneven edges, or a sore that does not heal, contact your doctor immediately. Also, inform your doctor if you experience unexplained fever, persistent fatigue, unexplained weight loss, or pain or swelling in your neck, groin, or armpits.
Mycotero 500mg Tablet is an immunosuppressant. It helps your body accept the donated kidney by working on the cells of your immune system, which fight against foreign substances and reject them. This ensures that the transplanted organ integrates well with your body.
Mycotero 500mg Tablet is neither a steroid nor a chemotherapy medicine. It's an immunosuppressant that weakens your immune system to prevent rejection of the donated kidney. Hair loss can occur as a common side effect of Mycotero 500mg Tablet.
Since Mycotero 500mg Tablet may affect blood counts, kidneys, and liver function, your doctor will ask for a pre-treatment blood test. After starting the treatment, your doctor will suggest regular blood tests to check for any changes in your blood count. These blood tests can help monitor your response to the medicine and any possible side effects.
Mycotero 500mg Tablet weakens your immune system, making you more susceptible to infections like chickenpox and shingles. Following your doctor's advice and staying away from individuals with active cases of these conditions is important.
Do not take Mycotero 500mg Tablet if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. There's a high risk of miscarriage in the first trimester and birth defects during pregnancy. For this reason, it's recommended to use two reliable forms of contraception (e.g., hormonal birth control pills) for at least four weeks before starting Mycotero 500mg Tablet, during treatment, and for six weeks after stopping the medication. It is important to use a second form of birth control alongside birth control pills as Mycotero 500mg Tablet may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills.
Men and their partners should use reliable contraception during and after treatment, for at least 90 days. Men should not donate semen during therapy or within the 90-day period following discontinuation of Mycotero 500mg Tablet.
