Frequently asked questions
What is Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection?
Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required by the body for red blood cell production and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It's also important for releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You obtain vitamin B12 from sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, people who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may not receive adequate Vitamin B12 because it's not naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, deficiency of vitamin B12 is usually seen in vegetarians or vegans.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may cause tiredness, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells are larger than normal). It can also lead to nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance problems, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Is Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection safe?
Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash may occur in some individuals. If you experience a rash, discontinue using this medication immediately.
How should Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection be given?
Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The typical dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection), and it's given three times weekly. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Mycomax Forte 2500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If you encounter intense pain when injecting or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different location.
