Mupimet Ointment is meant for external use only. It should be applied only to the affected area of the skin as per the dosage and schedule prescribed by your doctor. In order to get the most benefit, apply it regularly and preferably at the same time each day. Do not use larger amounts or apply it more often or for a longer duration than directed. This will only increase the risk of side effects. Do not use it for more than 10 days. Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the medicine in these areas. Local side effects like minor burning or irritation may be seen after application. Consult your doctor if these persist or if your condition does not improve within 3-5 days. Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any previous history of allergy with it or any other medicine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using it.

Burning sensation is a common side effect of applying Mupimet Ointment. However, stinging is uncommon. It doesn’t last long and will disappear after sometime. Do not stop using Mupimet Ointment because of these mild side effects. If you have any concerns, consult with your doctor.
Mupimet Ointment should not be used to treat infections in or near the eyes, nostrils, or mouth. If this medicine accidentally enters your eyes, wash the eyes thoroughly with water. In case you have tubes inserted in your body for the delivery of fluids or medicines (cannula), do not use this medicine to treat the skin near that area.
If you experience a raised and itchy rash, cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty breathing, fainting, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, or other parts of the body, these may be signs of a severe allergic reaction. Stop using Mupimet Ointment immediately and contact your doctor. You should also discontinue use if you experience abdominal cramps and diarrhea.
