Mupicin Ointment is an antibiotic medicine used to treat certain skin infections such as impetigo, recurring boils, and others.

Mupicin Ointment is meant for external use only. It should be applied only to the affected area of the skin as per the dosage and schedule prescribed by your doctor. In order to get the most benefit, apply it regularly and preferably at the same time each day. Do not use larger amounts or apply it more often or for a longer duration than directed. This will only increase the risk of side effects. Do not use it for more than 10 days. Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the medicine in these areas. Local side effects like minor burning or irritation may be seen after application. Consult your doctor if these persist or if your condition does not improve within 3-5 days. Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any previous history of allergy with it or any other medicine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using it.

Burning sensation is common with applying Mupicin Ointment. Stinging is uncommon. It does not last long and will disappear after sometime. Do not stop using Mupicin Ointment because of these mild side effects. If you have any concerns consult your doctor.
Mupicin Ointment should not be used to treat infections in or near the eyes, nostrils, or mouth. If this medicine accidentally enters your eyes, wash the eyes thoroughly with water. In case you have tubes inserted in your body for the delivery of fluids or medicines (cannula), do not use Mupicin Ointment to treat the skin near that area.
Stop using Mupicin Ointment immediately if you experience a raised and itchy rash, cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty breathing, fainting, or swelling in the face, lips, tongue, throat, or other body parts. These could be signs of severe allergic reaction. You should immediately stop using Mupicin Ointment and consult your doctor. Though unlikely, but if you experience abdominal cramps and diarrhea, you should stop Mupicin Ointment immediately and contact your doctor.
