How it works
Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup?
Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It's important to inform your child's doctor about all medications they are currently taking before starting this medication. Additionally, check with your child's doctor before administering any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction. However, it's crucial to avoid vaccination before a child fully recovers from an infection. Once your child feels better and no longer displays symptoms, a vaccine can be given. However, consult your doctor if you are uncertain.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically, the doctor may order kidney and liver function tests for children receiving long-term treatment with Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup. These tests help monitor your child's overall health.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a dosage higher than the recommended amount can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not discontinue this medication until the entire treatment course has been completed. Even if symptoms improve, continue administering the medication as it might still be beneficial.
Can the use of Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Moxyrax CV Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea. This is because antibiotics kill harmful bacteria. Additionally, the medicine may affect the helpful bacteria in your child's stomach and cause diarrhea. For any diarrhea, encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids. If diarrhea persists or shows signs of dehydration (e.g., infrequent urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine), consult a doctor before administering additional medications.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
In most cases, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Antibiotics should only be used after consulting with your child's doctor if a severe infection is present.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not automatically indicate the need for antibiotics. During common colds, mucus often thickens and changes color from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms typically last 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rash), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting). While rare, these side effects require expert intervention.
