Introduction
Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup to your child. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup?
Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It's important to inform your child's healthcare provider about all other medications they are currently taking before starting Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup. Additionally, consult with your child’s doctor before administering any medication to them.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in a child who has recently been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should postpone vaccination until they have recovered from the underlying illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Regular monitoring of kidney and liver function through periodic testing is recommended for prolonged therapy with Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup. This helps ensure the treatment's safety and effectiveness.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup to my child?
Providing higher doses of this medication can increase the likelihood of adverse effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue this medication until the full course of treatment is completed. Even if you notice improvement in your child’s condition, continue treatment as it may still be providing beneficial effects.
Can the use of Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Moxvic-CV Dry Syrup may induce diarrhea. This medication targets harmful bacteria and can also affect the healthy bacteria in your child’s stomach, leading to this side effect. Encourage your child to drink fluids like water if they experience diarrhea. In case of persistent diarrhea, consult your doctor for further evaluation. Do not give any other medicine to your child without consulting a healthcare professional.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral common colds do not lead to secondary bacterial infections. However, using antibiotics unnecessarily after a viral infection can increase the likelihood of side effects. Consult with your child's doctor before using antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green nasal discharge is not an automatic indication for antibiotics. During a common cold, mucus typically thickens and changes in color from clear to yellow or green. These symptoms usually last for 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
In case of serious allergic reactions (e.g., difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), immediately contact your child’s doctor.
