Introduction
Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup?
Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It is important to tell your child's healthcare provider about all other medicines your child is taking before starting Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup, and check with your child's doctor before giving any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in a child who has recently been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from any illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically, during extended therapy, your child's doctor may monitor kidney and liver function tests to ensure their well-being.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a higher than the recommended dose of this medication may increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences increased symptoms, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop giving this medicine unless you have completed the full course of treatment for your child's infection. Even if your child feels better before the complete cure, continue the medication as it may still show beneficial effects. This is important to ensure the complete eradication of the pathogen.
Can the use of Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Moxsav 200mg/28.5mg Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea. This is a common side effect due to its antibiotic properties which kill harmful bacteria in the body. Additionally, this medication can affect the beneficial bacteria in your child’s stomach and lead to diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water or other fluids if they experience diarrhea. If the symptoms persist, please consult your doctor for advice. Do not give any other medicine to your child without consulting a doctor.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most of the time, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Giving antibiotics in a viral infection can increase the risk of side effects. It is crucial to consult your child's doctor before using antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection, as it's common during a cold. During a common cold, mucus often thickens and changes from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms usually last for 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Call your child's doctor immediately if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting). These side effects are rare but require expert medical attention.
