Introduction
Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup?
Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It is important to inform your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking before starting Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup. Before administering any medication, please consult with your child's healthcare provider.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children already vaccinated. However, it is recommended to postpone vaccination until your child recovers from the illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered after recovery.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically, a doctor may order kidney and liver function tests to monitor your child's condition while on prolonged treatment with Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup to my child?
It is not advisable to exceed the prescribed dose of this medication. Higher doses can lead to an increased risk of adverse effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, please consult with your doctor for further assessment.
Can I stop giving Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not discontinue this medication until the complete course is finished. The symptoms may improve before the infection clears completely, so continue the treatment as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Can the use of Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Moxinem CV DS Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria and can also affect the balance of beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids and contact your doctor if diarrhea persists and you notice signs of dehydration (e.g., decreased urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine). Do not administer any other medications without consulting a healthcare provider.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral common colds do not lead to secondary bacterial infections. In fact, administering antibiotics in a viral infection can increase the risk of side effects. Consult with your child's doctor before using antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose doesn't necessarily indicate a bacterial infection. During a common cold, it's normal for mucus to thicken and change color (from clear to yellow or green). Most symptoms last 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rash), gastrointestinal distress (severe diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While rare, these side effects are serious and require urgent medical intervention.
