How it works
Moxifit DS Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Moxifit DS Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Moxifit DS Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Moxifit DS Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be taken concurrently with Moxifit DS Dry Syrup?
It's crucial to inform your child's doctor about all the medications they are currently taking before starting Moxifit DS Dry Syrup. This ensures compatibility and avoids potential interactions.
Can I administer vaccines during treatment with Moxifit DS Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have received them recently. However, it's advisable to postpone vaccination until your child recovers from any illness before initiating antibiotic therapy.
What lab tests may be conducted while on long-term Moxifit DS Dry Syrup treatment?
Periodically, a doctor might order kidney and liver function tests to monitor the child's condition during prolonged treatment with this medication.
Can I administer a higher dose of Moxifit DS Dry Syrup than recommended?
It is not advisable to exceed the prescribed dosage of Moxifit DS Dry Syrup. Higher doses can increase the risk of potential adverse effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult with their doctor for a re-evaluation.
Should I stop Moxifit DS Dry Syrup once the symptoms are relieved?
No, it is crucial to continue administering this medication as prescribed until the full course is complete. While symptoms may improve before complete eradication of the infection, Moxifit DS Dry Syrup might still be providing benefits.
Can Moxifit DS Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Moxifit DS Dry Syrup can lead to diarrhea. It's an antibiotic that targets harmful bacteria. Moreover, it may also impact the beneficial bacteria in your child’s gut and cause diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink fluids if they experience diarrhea. Contact their doctor immediately if diarrhea persists, and notice signs of dehydration like reduced urine output with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine.
Does taking Moxifit DS Dry Syrup always lead to a bacterial infection?
Most viral infections do not naturally progress to secondary bacterial infections. Antibiotic use should be limited, only after consulting a doctor's advice in case of symptoms requiring it.

Yellow or green mucus in the nose is not indicative of a bacterial infection. This is a common symptom of a cold as mucus thickens and changes color during the course.
What are the signs that my child needs immediate medical attention?
If your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea) or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting) it’s essential to contact their doctor immediately. Though rare, these side effects require expert management.
