Moxclav BD Distab 228.5 Tablet is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again become resistant or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Moxclav BD Distab 228.5 Tablet. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
It is important to consult with a doctor before giving any medicine to your child, especially if they are taking other medications. This includes informing them about all prescribed and over-the-counter drugs your child may be using. If you are unsure whether or not a medication can be safely used alongside Moxclav BD Distab 228.5 Tablet, always consult your child's doctor.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not receive a vaccine until they have fully recovered from their illness. Once your child is feeling better, the vaccine can be administered.
Periodically, during prolonged treatment with Moxclav BD Distab 228.5 Tablet, the doctor may monitor for changes in kidney and liver function. This is done to ensure your child's health.
It's important to adhere to the recommended dosage for Moxclav BD Distab 228.5 Tablet. Increasing the dosage can raise the risks of potential side effects. If your child experiences worsened symptoms, it is vital to contact their doctor before making any adjustments to the treatment plan.

Moxclav BD Distab 228.5 Tablet can occasionally cause diarrhea. It is important to note that this medication works by killing harmful bacteria, and it may also influence the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to diarrhea. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to consume plenty of fluids and consult a doctor if symptoms persist or you notice signs of dehydration (e.g., decreased urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine). Do not administer any other medication to your child without consulting their doctor.
Generally, bacterial infections don't follow viral infections. In fact, giving antibiotics during a viral illness can increase the risk of developing side effects. Therefore, it is crucial to avoid antibiotics unless specifically directed by a doctor.
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection during a common cold. It's normal for mucus to thicken and change color from clear to yellow or green. These symptoms usually resolve within 7-10 days.
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea), or signs of liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These are serious side effects and require prompt intervention by a healthcare professional.
