Mycophenolate mofetil (500mg)
Mofisure 500 Tablet is an immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection after a transplant, such as kidney, heart, or liver.
Tablet
Mofisure 500 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called immunosuppressants. It is used with other medicines to prevent your body from rejecting an organ (such as a kidney, heart, or liver) after a transplant. It works by suppressing your body's immune system so that it does not attack the new organ.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Mofisure 500 Tablet is to be taken with food.
Mofisure 500 Tablet is an immunosuppressant. It reduces the action of the body's own defense system (the immune system) and prevents rejection of the transplanted organ.
Your doctor has prescribed Mofisure 500 Tablet to stop your body from rejecting a transplanted organ (e.g. kidney, heart or liver). It may take 6 to 12 weeks for Mofisure 500 Tablet to start working. Keep taking it as prescribed. It may cause birth defects so birth control is required in females with reproductive potential. It makes you more susceptible to getting infections. Avoid contact with people who have an infection. Protect yourself from direct sunlight by wearing protective clothing and applying a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF).
Mofisure 500 Tablet may increase your risk of certain cancers, such as skin cancer and lymphoma (cancer of the lymph system). Protect yourself from the sun by wearing protective clothing and applying sunscreen when outdoors. If you experience a new skin sore or bump, a change in the size or color of a mole, a brown or black skin lesion with uneven edges or a sore that doesn't heal, contact your doctor immediately. Also, inform your doctor if you experience unexplained fever, persistent tiredness, weight loss, or pain or swelling in your neck, groin, or armpits.
Mofisure 500 Tablet is an immunosuppressant. It helps your body accept the transplanted kidney by suppressing your immune system. Your immune system normally fights foreign substances and may reject the donated kidney, but Mofisure 500 Tablet works on your cells to lessen this rejection. This allows for a better integration of the organ.
Mofisure 500 Tablet is neither a steroid nor chemotherapy medicine. It's an immunosuppressant that weakens your immune system to prevent rejection of the transplanted organ. Hair loss is a common side effect of Mofisure 500 Tablet.
Your doctor will order a blood test before starting treatment to check your blood count. Regular blood tests will also be recommended during the course of your treatment, and after stopping Mofisure 500 Tablet. This helps monitor your response to the medication and any side effects.
Mofisure 500 Tablet weakens the immune system, making you more susceptible to diseases like chickenpox or shingles. If exposed to someone with chickenpox or shingles, it may increase your risk of contracting these illnesses.
Do not take Mofisure 500 Tablet if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. There is a high risk of miscarriage during the first trimester (first three months) of pregnancy, and it may even cause birth defects in newborns. Therefore, use two reliable forms of birth control for four weeks before starting treatment, during treatment, and for six weeks after stopping Mofisure 500 Tablet. Using a second form of birth control along with birth control pills may make the pill less effective.
Both the man and his partner should use reliable contraception during treatment and for 90 days after treatment. Men should not donate semen during or for 90 days following discontinuation of Mofisure 500 Tablet.
