How it works

Mituss-A Syrup is a combination of five medicines: Ambroxol, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Menthol. Ambroxol is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) making it easier to cough out. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough center in the brain. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic which relieves symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Menthol produces a sensation of coolness and relieves minor throat irritation.

Quick Tips

Drink warm water to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication. Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended. Use a proper measuring cup or spoon to measure the dosage. If you are drowsy after taking Mituss-A Syrup, you should not drive or operate any machinery. In general, most coughs do not last more than 2 weeks. If your cough does last longer than this then it's better to see your doctor. Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers or asthma. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications, e.g. anti-depressants. Mituss-A Syrup should not be given to kids.
