Frequently asked questions
What is Mikob 1000mcg Injection?
Mikob 1000mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, which is an essential nutrient required by the body to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in energy release from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 through diet alone?
Vitamin B12 is primarily obtained from animal-based foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians or vegans may not easily obtain vitamin B12 as it's not naturally present in plant sources such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, a deficiency is common in those dietary groups.
What are the consequences of Vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to symptoms like fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal increase in red blood cells). It may also affect the nervous system, causing numbness or tingling in hands and feet. Other potential effects include balance problems, depression, confusion, memory difficulties, mouth sores, and cognitive decline.
Is Mikob 1000mcg Injection safe?
Mikob 1000mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. If you notice a rash while taking this medication, discontinue use and consult with your healthcare provider immediately.
How should Mikob 1000mcg Injection be administered?
Mikob 1000mcg Injection can be injected either intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mikob 1000mcg Injection), given three times per week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mikob 1000mcg Injection) is administered once every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Mikob 1000mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the same site repeatedly. If you experience intense pain during injection, or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-inject at a different location.
