Frequently asked questions
Does Midohep 2.5 Tablet raise blood pressure?
Yes, Midohep 2.5 Tablet may cause increased blood pressure when lying flat on your back (supine hypertension). This medicine should only be used by individuals whose low blood pressure significantly affects their daily life and in those for whom other therapies were not successful.
Does Midohep 2.5 Tablet affect heart rate?
Midohep 2.5 Tablet may slightly slow the heart rate. It should be used cautiously when combined with other medicines (beta blockers, digitalis, etc.) that can further slow down the heart rate. Patients should be monitored if they experience symptoms suggestive of a slowed heart rate.
Why can't I lie down immediately after taking Midohep 2.5 Tablet?
Laying down immediately after taking Midohep 2.5 Tablet is not recommended due to the risk of supine hypertension (increased blood pressure when lying flat). Therefore, it is suggested to take the last daily dose at least four hours before bedtime. Elevating the head while sleeping can reduce the chance of supine hypertension occurring during the night.
Does Midohep 2.5 Tablet work immediately?
Midohep 2.5 Tablet takes approximately one hour to show its effects. However, its effects last for only a short period of time; they persist for about two to three hours.
How do I take Midohep 2.5 Tablet?
Midohep 2.5 Tablet should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is taken orally, with or without food. Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water. Usually, it is recommended to take the medicine three times daily (morning, midday, and late afternoon [before 6PM]) with a gap of at least three hours. Take the last daily dose of Midohep 2.5 Tablet before an evening meal and at least four hours before bedtime.
Who should not take Midohep 2.5 Tablet?
Midohep 2.5 Tablet is not advised for individuals with allergies to any component of the product, severe heart disease, abnormally slow heart rate, high blood pressure, and conditions that cause narrowing of arteries. In addition, treatment with Midohep 2.5 Tablet should be avoided in those with enlarged prostate gland, urinary retention (when the bladder cannot empty properly), pheochromocytoma (tumour of the adrenal medulla), acute or severe kidney disease, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), and narrow-angle glaucoma (high pressure in the eye).
Is any monitoring required during Midohep 2.5 Tablet treatment?
Before starting Midohep 2.5 Tablet, you may need to have your blood pressure and kidney function tests done. Once treatment begins, regularly monitor your blood pressure and heart rate, especially after lying down.
How will I know that I have developed supine hypertension?
Symptoms of supine hypertension include chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, headache, and blurred vision. If you develop these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately. The doctor may reduce the dose of Midohep 2.5 Tablet or stop treatment if the symptoms persist.
Can I take metoprolol with Midohep 2.5 Tablet?
Using Midohep 2.5 Tablet and metoprolol together can significantly slow down your heart rate. Therefore, careful monitoring is necessary while using both medications. If you experience dizziness, fainting, or a slowed heart rate, inform your doctor immediately; the dosage of these medicines may need to be adjusted.
