Micolin Plus Ointment is a combination of four medicines: Terbinafine, Clobetasol, Ofloxacin, and Ornidazole, which treats skin infections. Terbinafine is an antifungal which stops the growth of fungi by preventing them from forming their protective covering. Clobetasol is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic which kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and repairing themselves. Ornidazole is also an antibiotic which kills other infectious microorganisms in addition to bacteria by damaging the DNA.
It is for use on skin only. Do not use it in your eyes, mouth, or vagina. Rinse with cold water if you accidentally get it in these areas. Wash your hands with soap before and after applying the cream. Do not share your towel or clothes with anyone. Wear clean clothes every day to prevent infection. Do not cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor. If you think the area of skin you are treating has become more irritated and infected, you should stop using Micolin Plus Ointment and consult your doctor. Do not use this medicine more often or for longer than advised by your doctor.
No, do not stop taking Micolin Plus Ointment and complete the full course of treatment. If you feel better before finishing all the medication prescribed, continue your treatment as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Micolin Plus Ointment is not intended for use on the face. Do not apply it for more than you have been advised, and avoid covering the application area with a bandage or dressing, as this may increase absorption of the medication and could lead to side effects. It should only be used by the patient, and never shared with other individuals, even if their condition seems similar.
The dosage and duration of using Micolin Plus Ointment should be strictly as per the doctor’s instructions. It contains clobetasol, which in higher doses and prolonged use can cause changes in skin color at the application site, making veins more visible due to skin thinning and weakening. Increased hair growth may also occur. If used for extended periods, it may enter the bloodstream, potentially leading to weight gain, high blood pressure, and facial rounding. If you experience a worsening of your symptoms, consult with your doctor.
